Open Role: VMM Financial Controller (Dublin)

VMM International are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee our finance management and support our programme team. You will provide integrated financial support to all of VMM’s funded contracts. The post holder will provide support to the end to end programme cycle management, from pre-positioning with partners, proposal and grant development, monitoring and interim reporting through to final donor reports and programme closure procedures.

The Organisation

VMM International are an international development and volunteering organisation with 50 years of experience sending volunteers to communities in Africa, playing our part to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals. We offer long term (one to two years) and short term (four weeks to six months) placements with our reputable, civic, community and diocesan partner organisations, who address those needs most important to local people. Projects tend to cover education, health, community development, livelihoods and human rights initiatives through a partnership approach, to “share who we are and not just what we have”; creating transformative results for both the community and the volunteer. VMM International is a faith-based organisation, however, we maintain an all-inclusive organisation and welcome volunteers, staff and partners from all backgrounds, regardless of religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or politics.

About You

You are a passionate and experienced international development professional with an accountancy qualification. You will have  previous knowledge of working with key institutional donors (eg: EU) as well as providing financial support to consortia grants and applications.  Experienced in carrying out internal audits and support capacity building endeavours you will have good understanding of development programme budgeting. You are capable of building strong relationship with internal and external stakeholders, you will be a positive collaborator with strong communication skills.

The Role

Salary circa €30k to €35k commensurate with the level of experience and qualifications.

This job is a full time position although would consider 4 days a week. Experience in the international charitable sector is highly desirable but not essential.

We are currently reviewing and updating our finance management procedures, so this is an opportunity for an experienced finance controller to make a considerable impact in our organisation and see the real difference their work makes on our international development projects.

Duties will include


  • Contribution to the production of annual statutory accounts.
  • Producing monthly management accounts including month end procedures
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget
  • Reconciling and managing restricted and unrestricted income
  • Providing the financial information required to meet donor needs and expectations
  • Entry of day to day transactions and the processing of bank payments
  • Processing of the monthly payroll using Thesaurus Payroll


  • Support with general office management and administration

You will work closely with our team. The location of the role will be at our Dublin office at 64 Lower Rathmines Road.
